Meet the Team

Gretel and McCaelyn are about to begin their first year of veterinary school at the University of Missouri and Louisiana State University, respectively. They first met while serving as President and Public Relations Chair for the American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association, where they developed a shared passion for the APVMA Interview Series created by the 2024-2025 Executive Board. As their term came to an end, they realized they weren’t ready to stop sharing their stories and enthusiasm for veterinary medicine. Their goal is to highlight positive experiences in the field while also discussing current events and engaging in more scientific conversations.

Gretel Wurdack

Gretel is from St. Louis, Missouri, and might hold the world record for species variation of pets. She cares for everything from horses and a miniature spotted donkey to blind cats and a few seemingly normal dogs. Gretel attended the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign, and will be joining the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2029. After graduating vet school, she hopes to join the field of mixed animal medicine and never turn an animal in need away.

McCaelyn Beuschel

McCaelyn is from Wingate, TX, and enjoys playing guitar, collecting vinyl records, and painting. She also has a passion for experiencing every specialty in veterinary medicine at least once, hence her experience in necropsy and swine production. McCaelyn attended Auburn University and will be joining the Class of 2029 at Louisiana State University. After graduating vet school, she hopes to one day own a rural ambulatory practice and serve ranching/farming communities.
